A man who spiked treats with sedative and provided them to minors at a youth camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two boys who were nine and 10.
The defendant was detained after eight youngsters and an older person fell ill at the location in the summer month.
The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
However, he denied one particular crime he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was kept in jail ahead of a additional proceeding on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, detailed the defendant's actions to the court.
She stated his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer program which he ran.
Ruben conducted a "sweet game" with the children, the prosecutor explained, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings the man had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously become sick the following morning.
She said the man had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had worries in recently.
The legal representative continued: "Recently" his family member had worries about the situation, for good reason.
"They decided to investigate in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC stated items including infant oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were found, and his stepchild contacted the authorities about his concerns.
She stated the defendant continued to engage in the "sweet game" with six youngsters that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she added.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The legal representative said the minors were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the stepson notified the law enforcement once more.
She said the defendant then conducted the "sweet game" in a area of five minors.
