World Series Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The exciting 11-inning matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total over 50 million viewers across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball announced this represents the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s epic game drew 27.33M viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent improvement compared to the last finale featuring the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked fourth, Game 4 was seventh, Game 5 came in 8th, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth position.

International Audience Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English program in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – averaged 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a single network in Japan.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series drew over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen audience growth for two straight years.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the total US viewership reached over 16 million. The total World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09 million viewers, an 8% rise over the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance since 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 nations and regions by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen different tongues.
